Launch the Ship!

We're getting down to the wire—as of this post, you have about 19 hours to post your fic. Specifically, you have until October 20th, 23:55 UTC (Countdown). Make sure you post your fic to the AO3 collection, which will remain unrevealed until reveals day: October 21st, 00:01 UTC.

The collection will not close on reveals day, but will be left open until the end of the week (Sunday), meaning that you can add your fic to it until then! I encourage you to take advantage of this if you need a little more time.

I'll make another post on the comm when the collection is revealed, with a round-up of all the fics we've written for Launch the Ship, Round Three!

We're back for our third voyage! Reply to this post with the zero-fic ship you want to write, plus the fandom. That's it! Sign-ups do not close until the end of the round in October. Read the section "How do sign-ups work?" in the FAQs for more information.

Stories are now revealed! Sorry for the delay—I got held up at a meeting, and then there seemed to be a bit of an issue on AO3 with works staying unrevealed. I hope it gave someone some extra time to get their fic in or make last-minute edits. Nevertheless, we have a total of 45 fics for Round Two as of this post, which is an exciting showing!

Despite them all being for tiny ships, I hope that we can still take a look at the fics in the collection and show them some love. You can browse the collection from the Fandoms page (though this won't include fandoms that don't have canonical tags yet). Alternatively, you can look at the Tags page and check out the tropes, kinks, etc. that are relevant to your interests.

At the bottom of the post is a round-up of the fics in the collection as of this post, which might be helpful as there are fics whose fandoms are not canonized yet. You CAN still add fics to the collection, up until the end of the week. I'm planning to close it once Sunday is over in all timezones.

You may want to redate your fic so that it shows up at the top of the fandom or character tag.

  • Roadbuster/Sam Witwicky: Turadh. Roadbuster didn't hesitate to take on the black monstrosity that attacked them seemingly out of nowhere. Sam helped him as much as possible. Roadbuster hadn't trained him and decked him out with weapons and little gadgets for nothing. He shot the thing every time it seemed to gain an edge. While the specialized bullets weren't as effective as they were on normal Cybertronians, they did enough damage to distract it long enough for Roadbuster to get into a better position again. If only the big mech had been the only thing they needed to deal with.

What could go wrong?

  • Kaiba Seto/Ootaki Shuzo | Adrian Randolph Crump III: on escapist fantasies. He was supposed to be dead and given that he was dead broke, he may as well have been but instead, Ootaki Shuzo picks up the pieces of his former life and starts anew, serving as an accountant to an aquarium and for the first time in years, he is happy with his job.

Hello everyone! Thanks for making Round One a success. There are a couple aspects I'd like to get people's opinions on. If you have feedback beyond these points, by all means feel free to share them here.

Schedule: Launch the Ship ran from August 15 to October 15—two months, like Be the First. Would you prefer it take place at a different time? The main thing I want to avoid is overlap with Be the First (February-April). As long that's respected, I'm open to moving the dates if there is interest, e.g., to June-August. Alternatively, if you prefer the current dates, let me know.

Prompts and Promos: This was intended to be a place where people could brainstorm ideas, or promote ships they enjoy to other people. Having not run anything like a prompt-meme before, I'm open to any suggestions about how to improve it (such as changes to posting rules, advertising it separately, etc.)

In the future, I'm planning to keep the collection open for a couple days or so after fic reveals for people posting a little late.

Other thoughts or ideas are welcome!

The dates of this fest have been adjusted to better fit my schedule, so sign-ups are now set to open Sunday, August 15th. As such, we have one week until we begin launching those ships! Start thinking about what you hope to write or see others write.
