mossy_bench: A lone ship on a bright sunny day (ship)
[personal profile] mossy_bench posting in [community profile] launchtheship
Hello everyone! Thanks for making Round One a success. There are a couple aspects I'd like to get people's opinions on. If you have feedback beyond these points, by all means feel free to share them here.

Schedule: Launch the Ship ran from August 15 to October 15—two months, like Be the First. Would you prefer it take place at a different time? The main thing I want to avoid is overlap with Be the First (February-April). As long that's respected, I'm open to moving the dates if there is interest, e.g., to June-August. Alternatively, if you prefer the current dates, let me know.

Prompts and Promos: This was intended to be a place where people could brainstorm ideas, or promote ships they enjoy to other people. Having not run anything like a prompt-meme before, I'm open to any suggestions about how to improve it (such as changes to posting rules, advertising it separately, etc.)

In the future, I'm planning to keep the collection open for a couple days or so after fic reveals for people posting a little late.

Other thoughts or ideas are welcome!

Hello! I really enjoyed this event. Honestly, the timeframe for Launch The Ship is pretty much perfect for me.

October is really packed with all the things like Whumptober et al, so I personally wouldn't mind if like it didn't run into October specifically, also because it overlapped a bit with Yuletide, which takes over a lot of people's brains (Yuletide was in prep phase I guess). So, I personally would have felt a little less stressed out if it was even like 2-3 weeks earlier so it didn't run into October. That being said, I write on the fast side most of the time so it just felt like overwhelming as far as when the actual reveal day was. Feel free to do what works the best! Esp. as you are the one running it!

I feel like this event could be pushed a little earlier. I don’t participate in that many exchanges or challenges but I feel like avoiding October-November-December for sure would be important for other people’s participation.

I wasn’t really sure what to do with the prompts/promos post so I didn’t use it.

Hi! I really enjoyed the event. I was especially a fan of the low-pressure attitude of it, because events that require hard commitments scare the heck out of me.

Schedule: I was fine with the current schedule, I think it did a pretty good job of avoiding peak times like December and not overlapping with the hundred Halloween events xD Events around August tend to be freer, I think. But I'm not hard against any timing moves; I'd just suggest not picking crazy-busy ones.

Prompts and Promos: Don't really have any feedback for this aspect. I didn't really need a prompt this time around. I guess there's always an option to give more opportunities for participant discussion or over a longer period during/before the event, e.g. coffee breaks for people to chat about the writing they have or haven't managed xD?

But yeah, I was happy overall. Thanks for running the event!
