Launch the Ship!

Hello everyone! Thanks for making Round One a success. There are a couple aspects I'd like to get people's opinions on. If you have feedback beyond these points, by all means feel free to share them here.

Schedule: Launch the Ship ran from August 15 to October 15—two months, like Be the First. Would you prefer it take place at a different time? The main thing I want to avoid is overlap with Be the First (February-April). As long that's respected, I'm open to moving the dates if there is interest, e.g., to June-August. Alternatively, if you prefer the current dates, let me know.

Prompts and Promos: This was intended to be a place where people could brainstorm ideas, or promote ships they enjoy to other people. Having not run anything like a prompt-meme before, I'm open to any suggestions about how to improve it (such as changes to posting rules, advertising it separately, etc.)

In the future, I'm planning to keep the collection open for a couple days or so after fic reveals for people posting a little late.

Other thoughts or ideas are welcome!

We're getting down to the wire now! I'm excited about the variety of fics already in the collection. As of this post, you have about 44 hours to post your fic. Specifically, you have until October 15th, 23:55 UTC (Countdown). Make sure you post your fic to the AO3 collection, which will remain unrevealed until reveals day: October 16th, 00:01 UTC.

IMPORTANT CHANGE: The collection will not close on reveals day, but will be left open until the end of the week (Sunday), meaning that you can add your fic to it until then! I encourage you to take advantage of this if you need a little more time. Read the section "How does the AO3 collection work?" in the FAQs for more information.

I'll make another post on the comm when the collection is revealed, with a round-up of all the fics we've written for Launch the Ship, Round One!

This is an optional check-in post where you can share how it's going, now that we're a month in and have a month to go!

Some reminders: Sign-ups are still open—that is, you can comment on the sign-ups post with the ship you want to write if you haven't done so yet. In addition, take a moment to check out the prompts and promos post and leave a comment or two if you so wish.

This is an optional, casual place to share and read thoughts/ideas about zero-fic ships. The basic premise is that it's like a chatty prompt-meme. Importantly, each fandom (no matter how big or small) has its own top-level comment. Prompts and promos are posted in reply to them. Launch the Ship is a low-pressure multifandom challenge to write the first fic for a ship. It was strongly inspired by the wonderful bethefirst (which challenges people to write the first fic for a fandom) and is similarly meant to provide a friendly little community during what can often be a lonely voyage.

All you need to do is choose a ship that has zero fics, and complete a fic for it before the deadline. Everything else is optional—you don't even need a Dreamwidth account. So let's set sail, shall we?
